Borrowing and Registration

COPPIN'S STUDENT'S BORROWING PRIVILEGES EXPIRE AT THE END OF EVERY SEMESTER 

  • Students may visit the Circulation Desk to renew their borrowing privileges or complete the Student Access form linked below.
  • Registered students of USM affiliates (Morgan State University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Loyola Notre Dame) must present a validated I.D. issued by their institution. 
  • To request materials from another library, go to CatalogUSMAI, and follow the instructions for "Requesting an Item". You will be prompted to log on using your 14-digit barcode (found on the back of your student I.D.) as your username, and your last name as your password. You must activate your account to use your barcode. Your barcode is activated by registering or renewing your account at the Moore Library Circulation desk.

Loans, Renewals, & Holds

Loans

28 days (undergrad and graduate)

Renewals

  • Items may be renewed for an additional 28 days (if not recalled)
  • Items may be renewed in person, by phone, or online through library account 
  • Overdue items may be renewed in person or by phone 

Holds

  • Holds may be placed on any circulating item in the USMAI system (expect E-books). Items may be sent to Moore Library or any USMAI library of your choice. 
  • Coppin students, faculty, and staff may not place an item on HOLD if that item is on the shelf at Moore library.
  • Holds may take 5-14 business days for delivery. Check your library account for status updates on your request(s).
  • Make sure all contact information is correct and up-to-date. 

Returns & Fines

Returns

  • Items may be returned at the Circulation Desk during regular business hours, or at The Book Depository located along the right wall at the front entrance of the library (available 24 hours a day). 
  • Materials not returned by the due date will be considered overdue, and after 35 days lost. Fines will accrue until items are returned.

Fines

  • Coppin fines are $1 per day for overdue recall notices. Daily fines are no longer assessed, unless the item moves into lost status. (35 days overdue)
  • Lost book charges include: cost of the book, plus a $25 processing fee. If items are returned the maximum fine of $15 per item will be assessed. 
  • Overdue/lost items belonging to other libraries are charged by the owning library's overdue/lost book rates.
