Faculty Guide

Registration

All Moore Library patrons must have a University issued and validated photo identification card. Please contact the Eagle Card services office to secure your EagleCard.

Faculty and staff must register/activate their EagleCard with the library in order to activate local and remote resource access. Your library number will be the 14-digit barcode located on the back of the card. (use the link below)

Borrowing

Please have an active CSU ID. Notify Eagle Card Services if your ID is lost or stolen. 

Faculty (full-time, part-time, and adjunct) must present proof of current employment at Coppin. Faculty must complete the Library Registration Form found on the Library website under the 'My Account' tab or linked above. Registered students, faculty, and staff or USM schools and affiliates (Morgan State University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Loyola Notre Dame) must present a validated photo identification card issued by their institution. 

To request an item from another library in the USM system, go to CatalogUSMAI, and follow instructions for "Requesting an Item". You will be prompted to use your 14-digit barcode. Your barcode is activated by registering or renewing your account at the Moore Library Circulation Department.   

Loans, Renewals, & Holds

Loans

Faculty - 1 semester

Staff - 1 semester

Renewals

  • Items may be renewed for an additional 60 days (if not recalled).
  • Items may be renewed in person, by phone, or online through your library account. 
  • Overdue items may be renewed in person or by phone. 

Holds

  • Holds may be placed on any circulating item in the USMAI system (expect E-books).  
  • Coppin patrons may not place an item on HOLD if that item is on the shelf at Moore library.
  • Holds may take 5-14 business days for delivery. Check your library account for status updates on your request(s).
  • Make sure all contact information is correct and up-to-date. 
  • Items secured through a hold CANNOT be placed on Moore Library Reserve shelf.

Returns & Fines

Returns

  • Items may be returned at the Circulation Desk during regular business hours, or at the book depository located along the right wall at the front entrance of the library (available 24 hours a day). 
  • Materials not returned by the due date will be considered overdue, and considered lost after 35 days. Fines will accrue until items are returned.

Fines

  • Coppin faculty are assessed fines of $1/per day for late Hold Recall returns. Daily fines are no longer assessed, until the item moves into lost status. (35 days overdue) 
  • Lost book charges include: cost of the book, plus a $25 processing fee. If items are returned the maximum fine of $15 per item will be assessed.
  • Overdue/lost items belonging to other libraries are charged by the owning library's overdue/lost book rates. Please contact the circulation department of the owning library for more information.
