While logged in to your Coppin ILLiad account you can make requests, track requests, and download articles you have requested.

First time users will be asked to fill out a brief registration form before making requests.


What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service free to the user through which you can request research materials, such as books, journal articles, book chapters, videos, and other materials that are not available at Coppin or at any of the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) through Patron-Placed-Holds (PPH). Course textbooks may not be requested. Please click here for additional Interlibrary Loan Policy information. 

What happens after I make a request?

After you make a request, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) staff will act on it by searching for other libraries that will loan or copy the desired material. Once the material arrives, you will be notified via email that your request is ready for retrieval. Loans (physical items) will be held at the Circulation Desk for you to check out, and article or chapter scans will be uploaded to your ILLiad account for you to download.

Who may use Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan at Moore Library is available to current students, faculty and staff.

What can be requested through Interlibrary Loan

  • Journal Articles
  • Print Books (not available at USMAI library)
  • Scanned Book Chapters
  • Miscellaneous Items (multimedia, etc. If you are not sure what your item is, make your request under Other)  NOTE: E-books are not available via interlibrary loan. 

What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is the system that manages your ILL requests. Using ILLiad you can track the status of your requests, check due dates, renew checked out materials, and view your ILL borrowing history.

The first time you use ILLiad you will be prompted to fill out a one-time registration form, and then you can dive right in!

Creating Your ILLiad Account

First Time Users - Register Your ILLiad Account

The first time you log into ILLiad, you will see the New User Registration form.

  • Enter all information requested.
  • Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk (*)
  • You may use your CSU email or your personal email; if you use your personal email please double check the system will not validate and ALL communication from interlibrary loan via email.
  • You will need your CSU ID#.
  • After entering all necessary user information and reading the copyright statement, click the button “Submit Information” at the bottom of the page to complete your registration.

Changing account information

  • If you need to change your account information, login to your ILLiad account and click Change User Information on the ILLiad Main Menu -- Tools.

How to Submit ILL Requests via Moore Library Database

  • When you find an article that is not available in the Moore Library; you will be prompted to click the  button.
  • The request from interlibrary loan page will open.
  • ILLiad will prompt you to log into your account if you are not already logged in.
  • The system will populate the form with the information from the database.
  • Check the “Not Wanted After Date”. The default is six weeks; if you need your material sooner please change the date.
  • Click the "Submit Information" button.
  • You should now see your request when you click on the "Outstanding Requests" link in the View section of the left sidebar.

How do I request materials manually?

  • Log into your ILLiad account.
  • Choose the appropriate form for the type of resource you want to request (i.e. book, article, other) under the New Request section of the left sidebar.

  • If the material you'd like to request doesn't fit into any of the choices, use "Other Citations" and enter as much information as you can about what you're requesting 

  • Fill out the form with the information in the required fields.  Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk (*).
  • Check the “Not Wanted After Date”. The default is six weeks; if you need your material sooner please change the date
  • Click the "Submit Request" button.
  • You should now see your request when you click on the Outstanding Requests link in the View section of the left sidebar.

How long will it take to receive materials?

 

  • Books: not owned by the USMAI consortium  are borrowed from another library and are usually received within 10-14 days, but wait times will vary.
  • Journal articles/book chapters: 48 hours (or less) for items owned by the Moore Library (excluding weekends and holidays). Items unavailable at Moore are usually received within 1 - 3 days, but sometimes it may take longer.
  • NOTE: Requests are not guaranteed

Can I renew items?

You need to request renewals with Interlibrary Loan staff at (410) 951-3408. Renewals are not guaranteed.

  • NOTE: Items received electronically expire 30 days after the item was sent. 

                     If you haven't downloaded and saved the PDF, another request will have to be placed.

Forgot username or password

        Username : If you forgot your username, call the Interlibrary Loan (410) 951-3408

NOTE: We cannot see or reset your password. We can advise you of your username and e-mail, which will allow you to reset your password.

Password :

  • To request a new password, click on the "Forgot Password" button in the logon screen.  
  • Type your username
  • You will receive an e-mail to the e-mail account registered
  • Click on the link provided in the e-mail, you will be prompted to type a new password. Click on "Set Password"
  • Logon with your username and new password
